During the summer 2025 session of the Vertygo residency in Mompantero, Almaha spent several weeks working alongside artist Safeya Sharif. Their days often unfolded through long painting sessions on canvas, using the residency space as both studio and point of reference. Al Maha’s work explored the relationship between Khaliji bodies and Western furniture, a theme that naturally resonated with the residency house itself, where old pieces of furniture became part of her visual experiments. Beyond the studio, she spent time exploring the valley quietly observing the local environment and its traditions of naïve painting. The residency became a moment of reflection, experimentation, and discovery, both within the studio and throughout the surrounding valley.
