During the summer 2025 session of the Vertygo residency in Mompantero, Raya spent her time working independently, continuing a series of works she had previously begun in Amman, Jordan, and later developed in London.

Her time at the residency allowed her to deepen this ongoing exploration, connecting her personal experiences and artistic language with the history and atmosphere of the valley. As she learned more about the region, she became particularly interested in the stories of arsons that have marked parts of the Val di Susa mountainsides. Alongside her studio work, Raya spent time exploring the valley and visiting the small chapels scattered across the landscape, allowing these encounters with place, history, and memory to quietly inform the continuation of her series.
