During the summer 2025 session of the Vertygo residency in Mompantero, Safeya spent several weeks working alongside artist Almaha Jaralla.

Her time at the residency became an opportunity to slow down and turn inward, focusing on a process of introspection and emotional reflection. Through long sessions of painting and quiet studio work, Safeya developed pieces that embrace slowness and invite moments of pause, allowing space to sit with feelings that are often rushed or overlooked in everyday life outside the residency.

Surrounded by the calm rhythm of the valley, her practice unfolded gradually, using the residency as a space to rest, observe, and create work that holds time, reflection, and emotion at its centre.
